Boston, 2014

In October my mom and I traveled to Boston

We rented the best little condo in Chelsea
(check them out if you plan to visit the area- The Guest House at Hooper)

Our hosts, Charlie and Bill, were fantastic.
Welcoming us home each evening with some wine and snacks on their beautiful covered patio

We visited the USS Constitution- the oldest commissioned warship in the U.S. Navy

And enjoyed the fall foliage (something we don't see in South Louisiana)

We bought a 2 day pass on the Old Town Trolley,
which allowed us to tour the city, hopping on and off whenever the mood struck

At Quincy Market

For a Sam Adam's beer at Cheers

And some yummy clam chowder

And the Old North Church where it was "one if by land, two if by sea"

And Paul Revere's house

And the site of the Boston Massacre

To the serenity of the Boston Public Gardens

I loved the weeping willows

And across the river to Cambridge
That's John Harvard behind me, keeping a watch over Harvard Yard

After 2 days of touring the city, we rented a car and hit the road,
heading south to Cape Cod

First stop, Hyannis Port

We ended the day at the very tip of the cape, in Provincetown

And enjoyed some lobster, which we decided was just a really big crawfish

The next day we headed south again, to Newport, Rhode Island

Where we found a wharf with my family name

And visited the Breakers, the Vanderbilt's summer home

Yes, that's the gate to a summer home.

My oh my how the other half lives....

And the next day we headed north

To the Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester

And on our last day, which was Halloween, we visited Salem- home of the infamous witch trials
The city has quite the Halloween festival

Another Mother/Daughter trip for the books!
